Board-certified physician Magali Van den Bergh, MD joins the physician team.

FORT MYERS, Fla., August 15, 2024 – Community oncology practice Florida Oncology and Hematology, a partner practice of American Oncology Network (AON) (OTCQX: AONC), is pleased to announce patients now have an additional choice for medical oncology services in Lee County due to its continued expansion in Florida with the opening of its new location in Fort Myers and the addition of Board-certified medical oncologist-hematologist Dr. Magali Van den Bergh who has been practicing in Southwest Florida for nearly 10 years. The addition of this clinic – located at 14543 Global Pkwy, Suite 110 – offers Fort Myers-area patients a new opportunity to choose a community oncology care practice that best suits their unique needs. Florida Oncology and Hematology’s Fort Myers location is equipped to deliver the latest cancer care and therapies. The clinic includes a compliment of private exam rooms and an on-site infusion room with 20 infusion chairs for patients. Additionally, as a partner practice of AON, Florida Oncology and Hematology offers in-house lab and pathology services, access to an in-house specialty pharmacy for oral oncolytics, and support with care coordination and financial counseling, among other benefits.

“Dr. Van den Bergh has an impressive background with years of experience providing quality, patient-centered care to the Fort Myers community,” said Stephen “Fred” Divers, MD, AON’s chief medical officer. “This new clinic, coupled with the addition of Dr. Van den Bergh, allows Fort Myers-area cancer patients the autonomy to tailor their care delivery as best suits their individual needs, which dovetails with AON’s core value of patient-centered care. We look forward to the expertise that Dr. Van den Bergh and her colleagues will bring to the AON team.”

Dr. Van den Bergh is Board certified in internal medicine, oncology, and hematology. She earned her medical degree from American University of the Caribbean, completed an internship and residency in internal medicine at the University of Connecticut, and completed a fellowship in hematology-oncology at H. Lee Moffitt Cancer Center and Research Institute/University of South Florida where she was appointed chief fellow.

“It was an easy decision to join the physician team at Florida Oncology and Hematology,” said Dr. Van den Bergh. “Florida Oncology and Hematology is known for its innovative and patient-centered approach to cancer care, and its exceptionally high standards align with my personal patient care goals.”

The Florida Oncology and Hematology team now includes four medical oncologists across three Florida locations. The practice is committed to providing the community with innovative cancer care that is delivered holistically, based on research and evidence-based medicine. Florida Oncology and Hematology patients have access to a diverse range of services for diagnosis, treatment, clinical trials, survivorship, and patient support that are close to home, eliminating the need to travel long distances to receive care.

“We are excited to welcome Dr. Van den Bergh to Florida Oncology and Hematology,” said Florida Oncology and Hematology medical oncologist Dr. Jose Alemar. “She is passionate about delivering the high quality, personalized patient care that patients have come to expect from Florida Oncology and Hematology, and her incredible knowledge and expertise will be an enormous asset to our physician team.”
