Dr. Lamar is a Board-certified medical oncologist and hematologist serving patients in Naples, Florida. She is a Louisiana native who began practicing medicine 14 years ago after receiving her medical degree from Meharry Medical College and completing a residency and fellowship in hematology-oncology at Wake Forest Baptist Health.
As a young child she knew she wanted to become a physician, and from the time she was three or four years old she could often be found with a medical encyclopedia and trying to diagnose family and friends.
She started her career as an academic clinician researcher and educator but decided to move to community practice so that she could make a bigger impact by treating individual patients on a day-to-day basis. She is drawn to oncology patients and considers it an honor to be part of their cancer care journey and to advise them during what is often the most challenging time of their life.
Dr. Lamar loves books – she has authored more than 20 scientific publications, reviews, and a book chapter. She has been a principal and co-investigator of several cancer-related clinical trials, and she is a member of both the American Society of Hematology and the American Society for Clinical Oncology. She treats all cancers and some blood disorders.
